For the fruit aficionado, particularly a mango devotee, Hui Lau Shan stands as a sweet bastion of delight. This dessert chain with its signature mango-centric menu brings the essence of tropical indulgence to each serving. The brightly lit café offers a cheerful backdropto an escapade into the realm of fruit desserts.

Their jumbo pomelo and mango with sago is a textural symphony, each spoonful carrying the jubilance of fresh mango paired with the light, refreshing touch of pomelo. The jumbo mango chewy ball is another crowd pleaser, offering a playful chew from the tang yuan / mochi balls, which are so beloved that they warrant an additional order every time.

The desserts strike a fine balance, being satisfying without being overly sweet--a testament to the quality of the ingredients used. The durian pancake is a bold choice for the more adventurous taste buds. It's a unique take on the king of fruits, and while opinions may differ on the intensity of the durian flavor, it's a conversation-starter for sure.

As a tip, I echo the sentiment of fellow local guides: while Hui Lau Shan's treats are a year-round temptation, mango's peak season from May to September is the perfect time to experience their offerings at their zenith. Off-season visits might find the mango less succulent, yet the experience remains delightful.

On warmer days, the range of mango and coconut drinks prove to be the ultimate refreshment, with my personal go-to, the mango mochi, offering bite-sized joys that are perfect for sharing--if you're willing to, that is.

With an interior that buzzes with chattering dessert-lovers and service that is both quick and congenial, it's evident why the place fizzes with energy. The potions may not rival the size of their competitors, and the coconut ice could stand to pack a punchier flavor, but these small omissions hardly detract from the overall experience.

In conclusion, Hui Lau Shan is much more than a dessert spot; it's a celebration of tropical flavors with mango at its heart. For a refreshing, fruit-filled reprieve from the day-to-day, there's hardly a spot more fitting.

Hui Lau Shan is a dessert spot dedicated to mango desserts, which is the perfect treat when you want something sweet but also want it to be somewhat healthy! I think nearly all of their desserts are made with fresh mango, but I typically get the mango chewy ball and mango mochi when I come here. The mango chewy ball is basically a bowl of mango slushy topped with fresh mango pieces, mango ice cream, and mochi balls. The mango mochi are cute little mochi pieces stuffed with real mango (not cream or jelly!). Both desserts are a great balance of chewy texture and freshness from the fruit :)

I will note that on my most recent visit, the mangos were a bit tart as they are not in season (and they did have a sign saying the mangos weren't as sweet given the season), which I completely understand is out of their control but the desserts are just not the same when the mangos (the main ingredient in most of their desserts) aren't as great of quality.

The store itself is larger than most dessert places, with a few tables you can sit at to enjoy your dessert. This place was super popular when it first opened but I think has quieted down so you usually don't have to wait too long and will get your items pretty quickly. All in all, I'll probably come back to Hui Lau Shan in the future especially when I'm craving a fresh dessert, but I'd probably wait to come until it's mango season :')

Can be a bit of a wait, but their drinks + desserts are so tasty! They specialize in mango, so be prepared for most things on the menu to revolve around that

My family loves mango and when we made a trip to Cupertino I suggested to try this place.
The prices give me sticker shock however I look at it this way I don't go to Cupertino often and mangos are not cheap.
The menu is straight forward with pictures and display. The line went quick and we got our order quick as well.
The bathroom and the tables were clean. There are wipes on every table which is nice since mango can be sticky.

You cannot go wrong with Hui Lau Shan. It's so good! My favorite is the mango and pomelo sago. My husband has been obsessed with these from his traveling days. He introduced them to me when we traveled in Hong Kong too. I've since had it in Beijing and of course Berkeley and here. All of the drinks are good but I like this one the most.

So tasty but there can be a line especially if it's a warm day. Usually it's pretty quick to get your food. There's a few spots to sit in, a cute hangout spot for after dinner or something.

My favorite is the mango drinks and the mochi!

I love mango in almost all of its iterations, but especially in Asian desserts, and Hui Lau Shan delivers an actual mango flavor that doesn't taste artificial at all. In my opinion, their mango coconut milk sago drinks are the best, but I also appreciate their dessert bowls!

I got a mango chewy balls dessert this time, and the mochi balls were slightly warm, which gave a nice little contrast to the cold slush and sorbet dessert. Mango chunks are always welcome to add a bit more texture too.

Located in the Marukai Market plaza is my favorite mango dessert spot. You'll often be able to spot a long queue outside as they make the desserts to order, but they're usually pretty quick. Hui Lau Shan has long been a favorite of mine, it is a mango haven for anyone who shares a love of mangos. Everything that I've had, I've enjoyed; from their drinks to dessert bowls and mochis! My go-tos are usually the mango chewy ball (there's two sizes depending on your party size) and the mango pomelo sago drink. I usually recommend the mango mochis to friends who haven't been before because those are delicious too! Because fresh mangos are used, depending on the time of year you go, the mango sweetness will vary.
If you're eating there, seating inside and outside is limited and if people are there to hang out, it may be hard to snatch a spot.

mango chewy ball (6.50)

mango mochi (5.50)

review:

one of hong kongs favorite dessert places just arrived in cupertino! the line wrapped around the corner when we got there (saturday 8pm) i would recommend going sometime during the weekday in the afternoon for less of a wait. I personally go the silky strawberry than added the side aloe jelly inside the drink. I really enjoyed the drink itself but I kind of wish i personally didn't add my aloe into it (thats all my fault haha) you can tell the taste of the strawberry inside of it and all of the different flavors coming together. my brother got the mango chewy ball and seemed to really enjoy it! if i were to recommend anything i would recommend getting the mango mochi it had a bunch of mango in the middle and it had a chewy mochi outside :))
